ProjectSettle
Children in care often find themselves removed from their homes without notice, without their belongings, and without basics like a toothbrush or a teddy to hug for comfort. These children have usually experienced neglect, trauma, or domestic violence.
As part of our Project Settle, ProjectKindness would like to put together settling packs for these children to help them handle the emotional upheaval of moving into care. We’re hoping to collect donations of the following for kids aged from 0 to 17 years:
- Soft toys like teddies
- Rattles or baby toys
- Small toys for bigger kids
- Books to read
- Scrapbooks and colouring books
- Pencils or crayons in a pencil case
- Nappies
- Toiletries like toothbrushes
- Kid’s backpacks
All items need to fit inside a child size backpack. Whether it’s one item or a whole settling pack, anything you can donate will help make life easier for a child in care. Please message us or email IAmKind@ProjectKindness.com.au if you can donate any of these items.
The settling packs will provide them with comfort, distractions, and toiletries, at a time when their worlds are crumbling. Let’s show these children that our community is in their corner by giving them a little backpack full of kindness. Come and join us in our Project of Settling!
