Our kindness.
The sad truth.
More than 888,000 people – or 13.3 per cent of the population of NSW – live in poverty, with children, single women, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and people with a disability the most likely to be living in economic disadvantage. (2019, smh.com.au)
The number of people sleeping rough on Sydney’s streets has risen by 23% from 220+ to 270+. Crisis and temporary accommodation within the local government area is at 93% occupancy and nearing capacity. (2023, news.com.au)
There are more than 57,000 individuals and families on the social housing waitlist in NSW. (2023, abc.net.au)

Spreading the word.
At ProjectKindness, we have the privilege of working and associating with some of the most remarkable people, all with their own life-changing stories to tell, in the hopes that, by sharing, they can change the lives of others.
Currently, we have two wonderful people available as Guest Speakers who are able to offer their stories, as a free service, at various community events across Sydney.
These presentations can easily be tailored to suit an array of audiences including school students, corporate teams, community groups and more.
Clementine Hartson – Project Kindness Founder & President
Clem is a fiercely passionate, kind, caring and supportive individual who truly wants to make a difference in this world. Clem speaks on different aspects of her life so far including what drew her to found ProjectKindness, the work she and the PK team carry out, and her struggles with mental health including depression and anxiety.
Tony – Kindness Recipient turned Volunteer
Tony plays an integral role in the ProjectKindness story and is such an inspirational human being. He was initially a recipient of PK services and is now making a difference in the lives of people who are struggling in the same ways he once was. His story speaks about overcoming struggles such as homelessness, drug addiction, incarceration and more.
Please reach out if you’d like Tony or Clem to speak at your next event.
School breakfast + lunch packs.
We are so excited to partner with schools, social workers, and the Sydney community to help provide nutritious breakfast and lunch packs that fuel growing minds and bodies throughout the school day.
Many families are affected by poverty due to increased cost of living, low income, and many other reasons. Unfortunately, this means that more and more children are coming to school without a healthy, nutritious breakfast or lunch.
Our school breakfast and lunch kindness packs have been designed to combat this and help kids in need access the meals they deserve.
The packs can consist of a range of nutritious, non-perishable food and drink items including juice poppers, fruit pots, muesli bars, milk, and more.
If you are a school principal, teacher, social worker or someone else who knows a school with underprivileged children that could benefit from this initiative, please complete the form below to enquire.
Kids kindness libraries.
We are so pleased to announce that we now offer a wonderful new initiative for our charity partners, our ‘Kids Kindness Libraries’.
For those who wish to be involved, we deliver bookshelves and fill them with preloved books for our charity partners to offer to their clients. Families are then welcome to take these books home for their children to enjoy. We continue to restock the shelves on a regular basis to ensure as many little minds as possible are able to access the power of imagination, education, and joy that reading promotes.
You can help us spread the love by donating new books or contributing to fund a library – just $200 is enough to set one up. Let’s work together to give kids the privilege of having a good book to read!
Our story.
ProjectKindness’ story is about how determination and the drive to help can make all the difference in the world.
ProjectKindness was established in 2017 after Clementine Hartson reached out to the Sydney community to help her bring joy and kindness to people in need, particularly those living in less favourable social and economic circumstances than others.
Clem soon found that there were plenty of other people just as eager as she was to help. From there, ProjectKindness grew into a pillar of hope and giving for Sydney’s most vulnerable community members.
In 2022, Clem was announced as the NSW Volunteer of the Year, acknowledging the incredible work ProjectKindness does in the community.
Clem and the rest of the ProjectKindness team are immensely proud of the support they’ve provided to past and present kindness recipients, and they are excited to see the smiles on the faces of the people they are yet to meet and assist.
Our impact.
The voices of our kindness recipients tell us that we’re doing the right thing, one kind act at a time.
“ProjectKindness is awesome and has helped me a lot. They are always there for me. Some days I can’t go anywhere because of my pain and I asked for help and with a smile they say “yes”. Without ProjectKindness I don’t know where I would be. They are the most amazing people you could ever meet. Thank you very much ProjectKindness, from my heart bless you.”
– Alan (Kindness Recipient)
“An initial 10-minute phone call yesterday with ProjectKindness not only changed my sleeping conditions, but it also reaffirmed my belief that there are some really great and selfless people in this uncertain world we currently live in. I cried daily for the past three weeks. Yesterday I stopped crying! I am in awe of your organisation and the many wonderful donors who assist with the beautiful items I received today. Any one of us can stumble and fall…one kind person can be that hand to hold.”
– Anonymous (Kindness Recipient)
“A very big thank you to ProjectKindness, for their generosity, kindness, and positivity with their ongoing support for so many families who are doing it tough and accessing support from The Family Co. Through ProjectKindness, I have been able to provide many of my vulnerable families with birthday presents, pamper packs, Christmas decorations, nursery items and food hampers. Such a simple act of Kindness that truly makes a difference for my families. As a caseworker, I am extremely grateful to the amazing team at ProjectKindness.”
– Cath (Caseworker at The Family Co.)
“I just put the new doona on my bed, it’s so nice and it’s mine! I haven’t had my own bed or doona in 15 years. I really appreciate it. It makes me feel safe. I’m sorry that I cried on the phone, just having you help me set up my new home means a lot. ProjectKindness has changed my life.”
– Lily (Kindness Recipient)
The stories we hear are terrible. But what’s worse is not hearing them.
