Spring and Summer Donation Items for Underpriviliged Kids

Spring and Summer Donation Items for Underpriviliged Kids

As the weather warms up, we would love to be able to offer our Kindness Recipients seasonally appropriate items. This is where your kindness comes in! The donated items we receive from supporters like you go directly to kids (and their families) in Sydney. The list below highlights a few items that would be perfect inclusions in our kindness hampers for the families we can reach. Thank you in advance for taking the time to understand these needs and donate accordingly.

1. Warm weather kids & baby clothes

Items like t-shirts, shorts, sun-protective swimwear, hats, sandals, short baby onesies, and other basic warm weather clothing for kids will help the littlest of our Kindness Recipients dress appropriately for Spring and Summer. While we do appreciate and will gladly accept cold weather clothing as well, for now, we would love to see an increase in clothing that suits the weather we will be facing in the near future.

2. Kids & baby toys for Summer

Our Kindness Kids hampers are never complete without something fun. Some toy donation suggestions for the upcoming seasons include:

  • Kids beach toy sets
  • Kids gardening tools
  • Arts and crafts materials
  • Water-safe baby toys
  • Outdoor sports equipment (netballs, soccer balls, etc.)

3. Kids books

We believe books are essential for kids as they help build comprehension, imagination, knowledge, and much, much more. Some ideas that will help complement the warmer seasons here in Australia might include books that cover native plants and animals that are active in warm weather, indigenous seasons, nature-based arts and crafts, Spring-Summer kids activity ideas – to name just a few. Colouring books with watercolour paints or non-toxic pens/pencils are also very welcome (bonus points if you can find some that are seasonally-themed).

4. Non-perishable food items

Along with clothing, toys, and books, we provide food hampers. We include a range of non-perishable foods with plenty of nutritious options (preferably low-sugar, wholegrain, etc.). If you would like to donate food items, a few to consider for the upcoming warmer months would be:

  • Canned fruits, vegetables, lentils, beans, etc.
  • Boxes of cereal
  • Muesli bars
  • Longlife milks (dairy and otherwise)
  • Popper juices
  • Sauces, dressings, and cooking oils
  • Biscuits, chips, and other snacks
  • Flour, sugar, dried spices and herbs, and other cooking items

5. Do you have any other ideas?

If you’d like to donate but you don’t see the items you have in mind on this list, we are very open to suggestions and recommendations. Please reach out to us via bekind@projectkindness.com.au and let us know your thoughts (check out this post for more information about the types of items we accept as donations for hampers before doing so). If you know exactly what you’d like to donate and it’s in line with our hamper inclusions, please also reach out via the same email address and we will let you know the process for donating items.

Note: All donated items must be in brand-new condition (thrifted is welcome, but please ensure items still have tags or packaging intact as we want our Kindness Recipients to feel dignified in receiving these thoughtfully selected items).
